Disclosure

Affiliate disclosure

This page explains how future affiliate links, recommended gear modules, and sponsored placements should be disclosed.

Outdoor Toolkit may eventually publish recommended gear sections, sponsored placements, or affiliate links that help support the site.

When enabled, these placements should be clearly labeled and kept separate from the calculators themselves so visitors can tell the difference between editorial guidance and monetized content.

The current project ships with monetization placeholders disabled by default. That lets the launch environment decide when ad or affiliate modules should appear.

Environment flags

Use NEXT_PUBLIC_ENABLE_ADS and NEXT_PUBLIC_ENABLE_AFFILIATE_BLOCKS to control whether monetization placeholders render.

Clear labeling

Recommended gear blocks should point back to this disclosure page so readers can understand the relationship behind those placements.

Editorial independence

Calculators, comparisons, and planning content should stay useful even when monetization is disabled.

FAQ

Recommended gear sections and future affiliate placements should be clearly labeled so readers understand when a commercial relationship may exist.
