Portable solar is attractive because it is flexible, but flexibility also introduces setup variability. Angle, shade and when you actually move the panels all affect what you get.
For van life and overlanding, the right portable solar setup often depends less on peak wattage and more on whether it reliably closes your daily energy gap.
The better question is usually not 'How many watts do I have?' but 'How much energy do I really recover on the kind of trip I actually take?'
